McLaughlins LoRezDan McLaughlin

Dan joined McCarthy as Associate Pastor -- Worship in December, 2000.  At that time McCarthy was really growing in first-hand missions involvement, especially in international missions, so the church later changed Dan's job description to include missions, in light of his missions experience.

Dan is a native of Virginia, but spent most of his childhood in southern California.  He came to Missouri to attend college, and just stayed.  After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Southwest Baptist University, where he received a B.M. in Music Education (instrumental/vocal), he taught music for two years in public schools, and later earned a Master of Music in Music Theory from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Dan is married to Martha, and they have two sons: Caleb is a 2009 music music graduate from SBU; Lucas is studying music and math at SBU.  The McLaughlins spent most of the 1990s in Lima, Peru, as missionaries.

Dan enjoys singing with the Missouri Music Men, a men's choir made up of ministers of music from around the state, and serves as the Regional Worship Consultant for the Missouri Baptist Convention, as well as the Music Development Director for the St. Joseph Baptist Association.
